USSD Codes (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) are codes that serve as protocol used by GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) to communiucate directly with service providers.

GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephone system that is used in Europe and other parts of the world.

GSM uses a variation of time division multiple access (TDMA) and is the most widely used of the three digital wireless telephony technologies (TDMA, GSM, and CDMA).

USSD codes help to create a real time connection during a USSD session. USSD can be used for WAP browsing, Prepaid callback service, money mobile services, location based content services and so many other services that you can think of.
